there is usually light circular grooving, in the end caused from brass hubs, but this is not a critical problem, because its actually the fit of the rubber not the hub that seals it mostly.

please fit a new impeller - the new ones have widened cores so they wear in to fit the housing they run in - see associated products below.

if you can post me your old housing, cheap from UK, ask and i will offer you a part refund.(recycling)
